Introduction

SGIM's mission is to cultivate innovative educators, researchers, and clinicians in academic general internal medicine, leading the way to better health for everyone. To that end, professional and career development is one of our core purposes. Explore and take advantage of the myriad courses, programs, grants, and awards to fund professional development and other career development resources that we offer.

Courses & Trainings

We offer a catalog of high-quality, timely courses and trainings on subjects that matter to you most, many of which include CME and MOC credits.

Career Development Programs

Choose from year-long programs in leadership, teaching skills, medical education scholarship, and health policy, all taught by established mentors and faculty in your field.

LEAD

The ACLGIM LEAD program is designed for junior to mid-career faculty who wish to further develop their leadership skills. Training and coaching from leadership scholars and successful GIM leaders are provided at the ACLGIM/SGIM annual meeting and continue for one year afterward.

TEACH

The TEACH certificate program was developed by SGIM’s Education Committee to address the needs of junior clinician educators. The program focuses on teaching skills and offers quality instruction and assessment with tangible outcomes.

LEAHP

SGIM's Leadership in Health Policy Program (LEAHP) aims to:

  • Develop SGIM members who are active health policy advocates and local health policy experts, leaders, and teachers
  • Offer health policy career development resources and opportunities to all SGIM members
  • Develop an expanding national cadre of Health Policy Committee (HPC) members and broaden engagement in the Society’s health policy efforts.

MedEd Scholarship Faculty Development Program

SGIM's MedEd Scholarship Faculty Development Program is crafted to cultivate clinician educators with enhanced scholarship skills crucial for career advancement. The program provides the tools for participants to spearhead and share innovative scholarship in both medical education and general internal medicine.

Mentorship Programs

SGIM values collegial support and mentorship, as well as building partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities. Learn about the various mentorship programs available to members.

Awards & Grants

The SGIM Awards & Grants program provides national and regional recognition for exceptional achievements and innovations in the healthcare profession, as well as significant contributions to the mission of the Society. SGIM grants support to individuals and programs that strive to improve patient care, teaching, and research
