Engage and Connect While Making a Difference
Anyone can volunteer, regardless of professional stature, setting, or career stage. It doesn’t matter if you are a full professor, resident, researcher, or student--you can make a difference within the Society. Prioritizing a diverse volunteer applicant pool that reflects our membership and ensuring that all applicants are given equal consideration is integral to the strategic priority of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive professional home for our members.
Volunteer Opportunity Types
We currently have three categories of volunteer opportunities based on level of time commitment:
Term Volunteer Opportunities
Time commitment: two to three years
Committee and Commission members serve three-year terms. Associate members serve two-year terms.
Task Volunteer Opportunities
Time commitment: one year or less
Task-based volunteer opportunities are usually project-specific and typically have a short-term commitment of six months to a year.
Micro Volunteer Opportunities
Time commitment: six months or less
Micro volunteer opportunities are easy, quick, low-commitment tasks or projects allowing members to contribute feedback, expertise, and talent in small increments. These opportunities vary anywhere from one hour to six months.
