Committees
SGIM could not exist without the efforts of members who volunteer their time to committees. Committees are permanent bodies, reporting to Council to do work fundamental to fulfilling the core mission of the Society.
Commissions
Commissions play a vital role in fulfilling the Society's mission and supporting its members. Commissions conduct substantive, ongoing Council initiatives that intersect with at least two core mission committees and have representation from the relevant core mission committees.
Interest Groups
GIM Connect is home to over 70 Interest Groups created and managed by SGIM members. Collaborative projects, lively discussions, and learning are at the heart of these informal networks.
ACLGIM
The Association of Chiefs and Leaders of General Internal Medicine (ACLGIM) is a sub-group of SGIM membership that provides a venue for leadership development and networking with leaders and peers from large and small organizations. ACLGIM’s areas of focus include academic general internist leaders and emerging leaders in scholarship, research, education, patient care, administration, policy, and innovation.

Regional involvement provides members with SGIM benefits at the local level, including opportunities to network, learn, showcase, and share research, teaching methods, and aspects of patient care and develop leadership skills.
