SGIM LEAHP

Join the Leadership in Health Policy Program (LEAHP), one of the pioneering national health policy career development programs! This year-long program is designed to enhance your federal health policy knowledge and advocacy skills through an immersive learning program of monthly webinars, interactive journal clubs, and capstone projects under the direct mentorship of a nationally recognized health policy expert. As a LEAHP participant, you'll be at the forefront of shaping SGIM's health policy endeavors and expanding its national reach.

Note: All applicants must be or become SGIM members upon program acceptance. No prior health policy experience is required.

Program Fees

  • LEAHP Program Fee: $1150 
  • SGIM membership for 2025 and 2026
  • SGIM annual meeting in-person registration for 2025 and 2026 meetings

John Goodson Leadership
in Health Policy Scholarship

Apply for the inaugural John Goodson Leadership in Health Policy Scholarship. This scholarship is available for one incoming LEAHP Scholar working in clinical practice/payment reform. It honors John D. Goodson, MD, and his decades-long contributions to SGIM advocacy for the clinical practice of general internal medicine.

An award of up to $5000 is available for the inaugural Goodson LEAHP Scholar. Each award will cover materials related to the LEAHP program at the recipient’s discretion, which may include expenses associated with completing a capstone project or other program expenses.

The application for this scholarship is done alongside the LEAHP program application and requires a response to an additional essay question.
