Biography
Dr. Jennifer Cowart is an assistant professor of medicine and academic hospitalist at Mayo Clinic Florida, where she serves as Patient Safety Officer and Medical Director of the Operations and Command Center. She completed internal medicine residency and clinical pharmacology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, then completed the Chief Residency in Quality and Safety (CRQS) program at the Houston Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She worked as a hospitalist at the Houston VA Medical Center before coming to Mayo Clinic Florida in 2016. She has been an active member of SGIM since her residency, attending the LEAHP Program in 2018-2019. Dr. Cowart has also served on the Southern SGIM annual meeting planning committee since 2020 and was elected SSGIM Membership Chair in 2022. She has many clinical interests as a generalist, from healthcare policy and advocacy, quality improvement, mortality review, to systems education for residents and students.
