Journal of General Internal Medicine

The Journal of General Internal Medicine is the official journal of the Society. It promotes improved patient care, research, and education in primary care, general internal medicine, and hospital medicine. Its articles focus on topics such as clinical medicine, epidemiology, prevention, health care delivery, curriculum development and numerous other non-traditional themes, in addition to classic clinical research on problems in internal medicine.

JGIM offers early publication on www.Springer.com to reach a broad audience,  with online access to abstracts and full articles rapidly growing each year.  JGIM's impact factor has risen in parallel with its increasing number of high-quality submissions.  Special supplements to JGIM  provide state-of-the-art updates on key topics such as health literacy, women's health, medical education and reforming relationships in health care.

Call for Submissions: Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

JGIM is eager to publish scientifically rigorous, current, and actionable systematic reviews and meta-analyses addressing questions of critical interest to generalists in any clinical care setting.  Submitted reviews need not include meta-analyses, but the conduct and reporting of all reviews should be consistent with existing standards including the PRISMA guidelines for reporting systematic reviews.  JGIM will accept systematic reviews for consideration on an ongoing basis, but manuscripts submitted before October 1, 2013 will receive priority consideration.  All submissions should carefully adhere to JGIM's online instructions for authors (http://www.jgimed.org).  Read the full call here.
