Leading with Agency: Navigating Complexity, Uncertainty, and Change in Academic Medicine

Academic physician leaders are working in systems defined by complexity: matrixed organizations, competing priorities, policy shifts, workforce strain, and the growing role of AI in clinical and administrative work. In this environment, leadership requires more than expertise - it requires agency.

The 2026 ACLGIM Winter Summit is designed to help leaders act with greater clarity, confidence, and effectiveness in the face of real uncertainty. Over three days, participants will explore practical frameworks for leading in complex organizations, learn approaches for using AI thoughtfully in leadership practice, exchange strategies with peers across academic internal medicine, and strengthen the skills needed to lead programs, divisions, and teams.

Structured from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning to make the most of limited time away, the Summit emphasizes working sessions over lectures, with a focus on actionable plans participants can bring back to their institutions. Physician leaders are encouraged to attend with their business or operations dyad partners to extend the Summit's impact.

We hope you will join us as we build leadership skills, peer connections, and shared language to lead with intention.
