In this issue of SGIM Forum, we hear from incoming SGIM President Dr. Jada Bussey-Jones in her inaugural column as she lays out her vision for her presidential tenure which includes “ACTION” by SGIM members. SGIM CEO Dr. Eric Bass engages in a Q&A session with Dr. Shams Syed regarding the World Health Organization’s strategic priorities as it relates to primary care. In our lead article, Dr. Fleurant and colleagues highlight the new SGIM initiative, GIMLearn, by describing its historical development, current state, and future directions for clinician-educators. A related article for clinician-educators from Dr. Blackburn and colleagues documents their process and venues for getting articles published including an SGIM-hosted hyperlink listing associated journals for possible publication. Dr. Terasaki describes his experiences finding his academic niche in addiction medicine, the growth of this field along with new education requirements, and his success in building an addiction medicine rotation. Nurse Kollman and SGIM collaborators illustrate the steps necessary to set up a geriatric-certified emergency department and the associated benefits. Finally, SGIM Annual Meeting Sustainability Chair Dr. Whelan and Co-Chair Dr. Gillespie describe the efforts undertaken to meet the promise of today by SGIM through climate-related programming and expanded sustainability measures.
