From Careers to COVID: Piecing the Puzzle Together
In the early days of COVID-19, jigsaw puzzles flew off virtual store shelves as people searched for ways to pass the time during the initial pandemic lockdown. In many ways, we build our lives and careers much like we assemble a jigsaw puzzle — one interlocking piece at a time. Only, unlike those puzzles, there’s no picture on the box to guide us along the way. In this talk, Dr. Redonda G. Miller discusses her personal journey, first to a career in general internal medicine and later to hospital administration. She also discusses how the core competencies and strengths of a GIM physician were crucial to leading The Johns Hopkins Hospital’s response to COVID-19 during the past year as the pandemic forced us all to rebuild the puzzle of health care, one piece at a time.
