Course Description

Approximately 200 million persons worldwide suffer from Long COVID, with over 203 unique symptoms identified following COVID-19 illness.  However, clinicians lack adequate guidance to diagnose Long COVID, differentiate it from other chronic diseases, and conduct a thorough and sequential clinical evaluation.  This content leverages consensus guidance, emerging literature, and the expertise of five medical directors at Long COVID clinics to demystify the illness and establish a clinical framework for primary care evaluation.

This content will provide an overview including definitions, epidemiology, risk factors, and common clinical presentations.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the Long COVID epidemiology, prevalence data, risk factors, and recent trends with emerging COVID-19 variants.
  • Identify common symptoms, patterns/phenotypes, and associated conditions in Long COVID, drawing on comparisons to other post-infectious illnesses.
  • Develop a systemic diagnostic framework for Long COVID, integrating history, physical examination, and appropriate laboratory investigations
