This Clinical Update in Perioperative Medicine was originally delivered on May 12, 2023, at the SGIM23 Annual Meeting in Denver.
This session focuses on key areas within perioperative and consultative medicine, including best use of perioperative testing, minimizing risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, assessing pulmonary risk and/or frailty, “prehab,” prevention and management of anemia, and other aspects of perioperative care. Each presenter covers 3-4 of the most relevant publications in the past year, and most are presented within the context of a patient care scenario with practical advice on how to apply the paper’s findings to patient care.
Publications have been identified through a comprehensive literature review, and authors will select the most important papers through discussion and voting. Papers are rated based on the rigor of their study design, strength of evidence, and likelihood of immediately changing clinical practice.
This activity can be purchased on its own, or purchased as part of a bundle of SGIM23 Highlight sessions.
