This Clinical Update in HIV Treatment and Prevention was originally delivered on May 11, 2023 at the SGIM23 Annual Meeting in Denver.
This session provides a thorough update on the latest evidence and guidelines that have come out in the past five years with regard to 3 important areas in the management and prevention of HIV: managing HIV, providing primary care to people living with HIV (PLWH), and pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV. Despite recent nationwide declines in HIV incidence, certain demographic and geographic groups continue to see higher rates of new HIV infections including racial (Black, Latinx, American Indian/Alaska Native), gender (transgender) women, nd regions (Southwest US). The presentation is heavily evidence and guideline based with discussions revolving around the most current literature in each area.
