The Southwest SGIM Regional Emerging Leader Scholarship supports medical students, residents and fellows, and junior faculty who are interested in building skills and becoming more involved in General Internal Medicine (GIM).

Scholarship Benefits

Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • Financial support to attend the Southwest SGIM Regional Meeting
  • Recognition as a Regional Emerging Leader Scholar
  • Mentorship from current and former SGIM regional leaders
  • Leadership development and networking opportunities during and after the meeting
  • Opportunities to contribute ideas, participate in SGIM regional activities, and help shape future Southwest SGIM meetings.

In 2027, up to five scholarships will be awarded to:

  • Up to two medical students
  • Up to two residents or fellows
  • At least one junior faculty award

Individual awards will range from $250 to $500 based on need and available funding.

Recommend an Emerging Leader

Colleagues, senior faculty, and SGIM leaders are encouraged to recommend prospective applicants. Recommended individuals will be invited to submit an application.
