Serves as SGIM’s chief elected officer, leading the organization’s strategic direction and representing SGIM to members and external stakeholders. The President shall be the principal officer of the Society and chair of the Council; shall, in general, perform all duties incident to the office of President and such other duties as may be assigned by the Council; and shall preside at all meetings of the members and the Council. The President, with the approval of the Council, shall approve the Editor(s) of the Journal of General Internal Medicine and the Forum.
