Co-leads the Ethics Committee in addressing ethical issues relevant to general internal medicine and guiding SGIM’s ethical standards and practices. The Ethics Committee supports SGIM’s mission by promoting the ethical practice of general internal medicine, addressing ethical issues in clinical practice, research, and health policy, and relieving moral distress caused by ethical conflicts. The committee collaborates with other SGIM groups on ethical implications of their work, advises SGIM leaders and members on ethical issues, and engages in scholarly work on ethics within and beyond the SGIM community. Both full and associate members with a range of ethics experience are encouraged to apply.
