Dataset Summary
The HCUP State Ambulatory Surgery and Services Databases (SASD) are part of the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) and contain encounter-level administrative data for ambulatory surgery and selected outpatient services from hospital-owned facilities within participating states. Data are available for multiple states and years. Some states include a “revisit” variable that allows tracking of readmissions or repeat encounters within a calendar year, facilitating analyses of short-term outcomes and utilization patterns.
