Biography

Stacey Watkins is currently an assistant professor of hospital medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, and she has a clinical appointment at Grady Memorial Hospital (Grady). She received her MD/PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine (now UAB Heersink School of Medicine) in 2015. She then continued at UAB for her Internal Medicine Residency. During this time, she received the Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Clinician Educator Certificate and the UAB Department of Medicine Award of Excellence in Quality Improvement Performance (2017-2018), highlighting her two passions. Next, she completed an additional year of training at the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a Chief Resident in Quality and Patient Safety, where she focused her efforts on improving readmissions and safety event reporting. Following this, she moved to Emory, where she took a position within the Division of Hospital Medicine, which afforded her the opportunity to continue as a Clinical Educator while focusing her efforts on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives. She is now the Assistant Site Director of Quality, Patient Safety, and Performance Improvement for Emory at Grady Hospital Medicine.
