Christina Cruz, MD

Christina is honored to serve as our region’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Chair.  She has held a variety of leadership roles within our region, including 2021-2022 Mid-Atlantic Regional President and current Past-President.  In the role of Mid-Atlantic Regional President, she helped with the inaugural development and implementation of Pre-Courses for Residents and Fellows in Internal Medicine, which had previously been designed exclusively for faculty.  An effort intended to help foster the GIM pipeline for our region’s residents.

As it relates to efforts regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion, from 2019-2021,  Christina served as one of the Co-Chairs for the Society of General Internal Medicine’s (SGIM) Minorities in Medicine (MiM) Interest Group.  MiM is a national network of URM general internists interested and committed to minority health issues and URiM faculty development.  She hopes to help continue to develop our region’s and organization’s DEI strategy and framework.
