We’re recruiting Associate Editors committed to advancing diverse perspectives in GIM.JGIM logo with 'JGIM' in dark blue and 'Journal of General Internal Medicine' in gold, featuring an angular, swooping SGIM logo in the upper left corner.

The Journal of General Internal Medicine is actively seeking to diversify our editorial leadership by recruiting accomplished faculty to serve as Associate Editors. JGIM’s mission to publish innovative research that advances patient care and medical knowledge can only be fulfilled when our editorial team reflects the rich diversity of perspectives in medicine. This search is open to all qualified candidates in all content areas, but particularly welcomes applications from the following content areas: AI, women’s health, geriatrics, health policy, and substance use.

We are currently recruiting for Associate Editors – Experienced faculty who will evaluate manuscripts, oversee peer review, and make publication recommendations in their areas of expertise. Associate Editors are expected to be available for at least eight months during the year and will be assigned to a pod (content peer group).

Joining the JGIM editorial team offers:

  • Direct influence on what research reaches the medical community
  • Professional recognition as a leader in academic medicine
  • Networking with prominent researchers and clinicians
  • Mentorship opportunities (both receiving and providing)
  • Professional development in scholarly publishing

JGIM is committed to creating an inclusive editorial environment where all voices are respected and valued. We recognize that diversity in our editorial team leads to better science, more comprehensive peer review, and ultimately improves healthcare for all communities.
