Health Policy News: House Moves Forward on Fiscal Year 2027 Appropriations

Earlier this month, the House Appropriations Committee revealed and marked up its fiscal year (FY) 2027 Labor-HHS bill that includes funding for various agencies within the Department of HHS. Overall, the House rejected many of the most severe cuts proposed in the FY 2027 President’s Budget and declined to restructure HHS. However, they once again propose to eliminate the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) as they did last year, while providing $47.3 billion in funding to the National Institutes of Health, a $100 million increase compared to FY 2026.
