FY 2027 President’s Budget Includes Proposals that Congress Rejected in FY 2026

On April 3, the President’s Budget Request (PBR) for fiscal year (FY) 2027 was released, with many of the similar changes that the President proposed last year but were largely rejected by Congress. This year’s PBR once again proposes to eliminate and reorganize agencies and various programs under the Department of Human and Health Services (HHS), as well as decrease their budget. However, in many instances, this year’s proposal backs away from many of the most dramatic cuts and a previous attempt to greatly consolidate the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The HHS Budget in Brief outlines key priorities for the Administration, as well as information on funding levels for each agency or program under HHS.
