Applications Open: Southern SGIM Regional Emerging Leader Scholarship

The SGIM Southern Region is currently accepting applications for the Regional Emerging Leader Scholarship, supporting medical students, residents and fellows, and junior faculty who want to build leadership skills and get more involved in General Internal Medicine.

Who can apply: Medical students, residents and fellows, and junior faculty within five years of completing residency or fellowship training.

Awards: Up to six scholarships (up to three junior faculty and three trainees), $250-$1,000 each, based on available funding

Individual awards will range from $250 to $1,000, based on need and available funding.

Membership: Junior faculty must have an active SGIM membership at the time of application. Medical student and resident/fellow applicants are strongly encouraged to be SGIM members.  Trainee recipients who are not already members will be expected to join SGIM before receiving the award.

Applications will be available on September 24, 2026.
Applications are due by November 24, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET.
