SGIM Southern Region Call for Awards

The Society for General Internal Medicine has developed rigorous criteria that recognize outstanding clinical educators and leaders. These criteria go beyond those traditionally used for identifying those with excellence in research criteria, such as peer‐reviewed publications or grant support.

Award for Excellence in Clinician Education

Primarily for individuals in the early phase of their careers (e.g. assistant professors), but individuals in mid‐career with a new or recent focus on medical education may also apply.

Leader in General Internal Medicine (LGIM) Award

Recognizes mid‐level and senior‐level SGIM members who have promoted continued participation and contributions to Southern SGIM from long‐standing SGIM members.

Leadership Development Award

This award is intended to assist early career faculty in developing leadership skills and a stronger connection with Southern SGIM. Awardee will be expected to attend and participate in the 2022 Southern Region Virtual Meeting. Specific participation will be based on the interest and strengths of the awardee, but may include session moderation, vignette judging, and participation in mentoring. Awardees will have additional opportunity for leadership development through a position on the planning committee for the Southern SGIM meeting in 2023.
