The SGIM Site Selection Work Group is responsible for making recommendations to Council on meeting locations that align with SGIM’s objectives and values. They consider factors such as geographic rotation for equitable access, venue cost, direct flight access, available dates, attendee experience, safety, prior venue experience, and avoiding conflicts with competitor meetings. The workgroup collaborates with a site selection consultant and presents proposals to the Executive Committee and Council for approval. Their goal is to secure venues five years in advance to optimize buying power, but they also act swiftly when opportunities arise. Their work ensures SGIM events provide the desired attendee experience and adhere to core values.
