The purpose of the SGIM Geriatrics Commission is to:
- Highlight the critical need for a healthcare workforce that is trained to deliver high quality, high-value care for older adults across settings,
- Train the trainers to educate the next generation of general internists to care for older adults and those with serious illness,
- Collaborate with the other SGIM commissions, interest groups, and board to embed geriatrics principles of care into all relevant content developed for SGIM members and,
- Advocate for SGIM to lead the way in supporting health policy to enhance care for older adults.
