Who Should Be Nominated
Eligible nominees are active SGIM members with the academic rank of Assistant Professor or lower as of July 1 in the year preceding the award. SGIM broadly defines generalist research to encompass the full range of scholarships conducted by SGIM investigators. Candidates should exhibit a track record of significant, innovative research contributions with a demonstrable impact on generalist medicine, including sustained achievement and active SGIM involvement. Eligibility extends to those within seven years of faculty appointment, highlighting their emerging influence and ongoing career momentum.

Background
Inaugurated in 2001, this award provides national recognition to SGIM junior investigator members whose academic ranks do not exceed Assistant Professor and whose early career achievements and overall bodies of work have had a national impact on generalist research.
