The Health Equity Commission’s (HEC) purpose is to serve as the chief advocate for SGIM’s health equity-related interests in education, research, advocacy, and provision of clinical care as the Society strives to achieve better health for everyone. We strive to dismantle racism and all structural inequities, optimize clinical care and promote social justice, especially for vulnerable and marginalized populations, through education, advocacy, research, and scholarship. By engaging the clinical workforce, researchers, educators, and policymakers and collaborating with other committees, commissions, and interest groups on health equity-related initiatives, we promote better health for all. The overarching theme for this year is “Collaborating to Move Forward.”
