New England SGIM Awards 

The New England Regional SGIM holds a two-day meeting in the fall, and includes programs for Nomination Awards and Presentation Awards.


Nomination Awards

Nomination awards provide the opportunity to honor colleagues and inspire others to achieve.

  • The New England Regional Award for Excellence as a Clinician-Educator in General Internal Medicine is intended to highlight outstanding Clinician-Educators in our region. The award is applicable to individuals who are working towards developing their careers as a Clinician-Educator. Specifically, the Committee will look for individuals who:
    1. Are early or mid-career Clinician-Educators (at or below the rank of Assistant Professor)
    2. Are active members of SGIM, either at the regional or national level
    3. Have displayed innovation and excellence in teaching and/or in the delivery of clinical care
  • The New England Regional Award for Excellence as a Clinician-Investigator in General Internal Medicine is intended to highlight outstanding Junior Clinician-Investigators in our region. The award is applicable to individuals who are working towards developing their careers as a Clinician-Investigator. Specifically, the Committee will look for individuals who:
    1. Are early or mid-career Clinician-Investigators (at or below the rank of Assistant Professor)
    2. Are active members of SGIM, either at the regional or national level
    3. Have displayed innovation and excellence in research and/or policy development

All SGIM members are encouraged to submit nominations for either award that they qualify for.
Nominations for either award should include the following:

    1. The candidate’s CV
    2. A letter of support from the division chief summarizing the merits of the nominee

Presentation Awards

We encourage you to explore the options our meeting offers for this type of coordinated learning. Presentation awards recognize outstanding submissions. Several of these awards are selected each year for presentation during the annual regional meeting.

  • Best Ambulatory Clinical Vignette
  • Best Impatient Clinical Vignette
  • Best Resident or Medical Student Presentation
  • Best Poster Presentation
  • Best Resident Oral Presentation
  • Best Fellow Oral Presentation
  • Best Fellow Poster Presentation
  • Best Resident Poster Presentation
  • Best Student Oral Presentation
  • Best Student Poster Presentation
