Call for Nominations

SGIM members are encouraged to submit nominations for the Chair of the Board of Regional Leaders (BRL). Members may nominate themselves or colleagues.

The BRL is comprised of the current sitting Presidents of the six SGIM regions. The BRL aims to enhance the regions’ ability to provide members with SGIM benefits at the local and regional levels, including opportunities to network, learn, showcase, and share research, teaching methods, and aspects of patient care, and develop leadership skills. In doing so, the BRL strives to provide added value to members and the national SGIM organization.

The Chair of the BRL coordinates the BRL’s efforts and serves as a liaison between the BRL members and the SGIM council and staff. As such, the BRL chair is an ex officio council position.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be a current member of SGIM
  2. Current regional officers are not eligible, except those in the “immediate past” positions (e.g., immediate past president) when assuming the role as BRL chair-elect.
  3. Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated recent organizational involvement in their regions, such as holding a regional SGIM office or having a substantial role in organizing their regional SGIM annual meeting.

Position Requirements:

  1. Term of Office: The BRL Chair serves one year as BRL Chair-elect and two years as BRL The term of BRL Chair-elect will overlap during the current seated BRL chair’s 2nd year. The estimated time commitment is 5% annually.
  2. Chair and lead monthly calls of the BRL and the annual BRL retreat at the annual meeting
  3. Act as the regional representative to the national council as a non-voting member
  4. Participate in regional leadership development
  5. Provide a liaison function representing regional interests to national SGIM committees
  6. Take on other tasks as able at the request of regional or national SGIM leadership
  7. Attend monthly Council calls and the semi-annual in-person council retreats.

  2. Please provide the following with the Nomination Application:
    1. Provide a personal statement outlining the nominee’s regional involvement and any particular goals to help enhance SGIM regional development.
    2. Provide a bio-sketch (no longer than three pages) that includes the following:
      • Education/Training
      • Professional Work/Position/Awards
      • Research/Teaching/Primary Care Interests
      • SGIM Experiences/Activities
    3. Deadline for submission: Friday, September 18th
