Edward H. Wu, MD, MS – SGIM Mid-Atlantic Region Membership Chair, 2024

Edward “Teddy” Wu is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, at the Pennsylvania Hospital campus. A 1996 graduate of Harvard University and a 2001 graduate of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, he completed a residency in General Internal Medicine (primary care track) at Rhode Island Hospital/Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University and then earned an MS in Medical Education at the University of Pittsburgh as a fellow in general internal medicine. Dr. Wu has published several first-author articles on resident and faculty attitudes toward the physical examination, and procedural skills of medical students. After briefly working at Rhode Island Hospital and Lehigh Valley Hospital, he joined Penn Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital in 2009 in primary care practice at Delancey Medical Associates. He then served as Assistant Director (2013-2017) and Medical Director (2017-2023) of the J. Edwin Wood Practice, where the internal medicine residents practice outpatient medicine. Dr. Wu was appointed Assistant Program Director of the internal medicine residency in September 2020. He has taught the residents extensively on various ambulatory care topics, and was honored by the residents with the Viner Teaching Award in 2019 and the Braffman Compassionate Leadership Award in 2023. Most recently in late 2023, he achieved certification by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Wu has been a member of SGIM since 2003 and has served on the planning committee for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting since 2020.
