Biography

Taryn Young is a hospitalist and Assistant Professor within the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She attended medical school and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Utah.  In the past, she served as a Chief Resident in Quality and Patient Safety at the Salt Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Given this experience, she has a particular interest in quality improvement and medical education. After attending her first Mountain West Regional SGIM meeting she knew that she wanted to become more involved in the Society of General Internal Medicine. She was chosen to be a 2023 National Young Scholar in GIM, and SGIM has been in an important part of her early career ever since. She is excited to become involved as the regional membership chair and is looking forward to including engaging more institutions from around the region.
