Biography

Sheetal Patel is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, in New Brunswick, NJ, where she has worked since 2016. She is currently the Section Chief of the General Internal Medicine Hospitalist Program in the Division of Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine working as an academic hospitalist. Sheetal spends the majority of her time teaching and advising internal medicine residents and medical students. In addition, she is an active member of several medical societies, including the Society of General Internal Medicine and the Society of Hospital Medicine, contributing both to their regional and national meetings. She is on the advisory board for the Society of Hospital Medicine, North Jersey Chapter. Sheetal served as the DEI Chair for the SGIM Mid-Atlantic region last year, collaborating closely with the regional Membership Chair as well as other DEI chairs across the nation in this role. She has been actively involved and contributed significantly on the SGIM regional meeting planning committee for the last six years, serving as the Chair of the Scientific Abstracts Committee. Sheetal formerly worked at Stony Brook University Hospital as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine and prior to that she was a faculty attending at NY Presbyterian, Brooklyn after completing residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine there. Sheetal is married to her husband, Kiran Reddy, who is also trained in Internal Medicine and subsequently specialized in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. They have two children, Devan and Ava, who keep them busy and young at heart.
