Biography
Dr. Meghan K.M. Black, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and the Associate Chief of Staff – Medicine Deputy at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from UAB in 2013 and completed her Internal Medicine residency and a fellowship in quality improvement at the University of North Carolina by 2016. Dr. Black has held leadership roles in graduate medical education, quality improvement, and ambulatory curriculum development. She currently serves as Assistant Director of the Birmingham VA Quality Scholars Fellowship and Medical Director of the VA Resident Clinic. Her academic interests include transitions of care, opioid use disorder treatment, point-of-care ultrasound, and advancing primary care in general internal medicine. A recognized educator and mentor, she has received multiple awards for teaching and leadership. Since 2015, Dr. Black has been an active member of the Society of General Internal Medicine, contributing to both regional and national meetings and committees.
