Biography
Dr. Holmes-Maybank is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. She received her medical degree and completed her residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine with a Focus in Hospital Medicine and Addiction Medicine. After attending the Academic Hospitalist Academy, she received her Master of Science in Clinical Research and focused her interests on addiction medicine, pain, sickle cell disease, and graduate and undergraduate medical education. She has held numerous course director roles in the College of Medicine and is core faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, focusing on addiction medicine. She has served on and led numerous college, university, and hospital committees focusing on the improvement of education and patient care. In addition to her practice as an academic hospitalist, she is the faculty member for the Complex Pain Clinic in the Rena Grant Sickle Cell Medical Home. She is active in and has held numerous positions in the Society of General Internal Medicine, including the Academic Hospitalist Commission, Society of Hospital Medicine, American Society of Addiction Medicine, and Academic Hospitalist Academy. She is an active member of the Hospital Medicine Reengineering Network (HOMERuN) Collaborative Addiction Medicine Collaborative Work Group. She has experience speaking nationally at SHM, SGIM, and the American College of Physicians, as well as regionally and locally on Addiction Medicine for the hospitalist. She currently serves as a Deputy Editor for the Journal of Hospital Medicine and an editor for The Hospitalist.
