Joseph Conigliaro, MD, MPH, FACP

Dr. Joseph Conigliaro, professor of medicine, Interim Chair, Department of Medicine at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of General Internal Medicine and former Editor-in-Chief of SGIM’s newsletter, Forum, brings expertise in health services and implementation research in the areas of social determinants of health, patient safety, substance abuse and behavior change to the position. Dr. Conigliaro’s research work has centered primarily on the evaluation of provider behavior change, brief interventions to reduce hazardous drinking, health care disparities, and implementation of best practices. He has a strong history of mentoring junior faculty and fellows who have successfully obtained peer-reviewed independent funding and have been promoted at their respective institutions.
