Biography

Dr. Evan Michael Shannon is a clinician investigator at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research, an investigator at the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System Center for Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation and Policy, and Hospitalist at the Greater LA VA. Prior to joining the faculty at DGSOM in Fall 2021, he completed his MD at UCSF School of Medicine, clinical training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by a research fellowship in hospital medicine and chief medical residency at Brigham. His research interests include understanding how different levels of racism, including interpersonal and structural, impact healthcare delivery and outcomes for underserved populations, with a focus on access to specialty care. He has a developing research interest in how climate change and extreme heat impact vulnerable communities, including people experiencing homelessness. His research has been published in high-impact journals, including JGIM, JAMA Network Open, and JACC.
