Biography

Emma L. Fenske, DO, is an Addiction Medicine Fellow and internal medicine physician at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She completed her Internal Medicine residency at OHSU, where she served as a Global Health Scholar and was actively involved in medical education, narrative medicine, and health equity initiatives. Dr. Fenske earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of New Mexico. Prior to medical school, she worked as a clinical laboratory scientist at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her scholarly interests include addiction medicine, hospital-based care for people who use drugs, narrative medicine, and advocacy writing in medicine. She is particularly interested in the role of reflective practice and storytelling in advancing humanism, equity, and patient-centered care within general internal medicine.
