Biography

Aprotim Cory Bhowmik (he/him) is an internal medicine resident physician at Yale. He was raised in Atlanta, GA, with his younger brother. He studied electrical engineering at Stanford University, with a focus on machine learning. He earned a master’s degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, with a focus on teaching and learning in urban communities of color. Following his graduation, he spent a year teaching mathematics at Milton Academy in Milton, MA. Dr. Bhowmik earned his medical degree from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, where he worked with incarcerated and unhoused patients. He also earned a master’s degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a focus on structural determinants of health. Dr. Bhowmik’s clinical and research interests are at the intersection of preventive health and social determinants of health (SDOH). He is especially interested in improving cardiovascular health in urban communities of color by increasing access to primary care and outpatient cardiology clinics. He spends his free time with his partner, Titi, and their Catahoula leopard dog, Coco.
