Government Shutdown Continues
The federal government remains shut down with no resolution in sight as Republicans and Democrats are not negotiating. Senate Democrats have moved no closer to folding and are refusing to advance the House Republicans’ clean continuing resolution (CR) without health-care assurances. Republican leaders are starting to consider voting on a new CR with deadlines stretching into 2026, even as late as December 2026 after the midterm elections.
