Health Policy News: Congress Punts Affordable Care Act (ACA) Subsidy Extension Until New Year

Congress left town last Thursday for the holidays without a solution to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies that will expire at the end of this month. Before leaving, the House passed Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-LA) health care reform bill that does not include any extension of the ACA subsidies but instead would implement new transparency mandates for pharmacy benefit managers and expand criteria for establishing association health plans. The bill is not expected to pass in the Senate.
