Secretary Kennedy Makes Rounds on Capitol Hill

Over the span of one week from April 16 to April 22, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Robert F. Kennedy Jr., testified at seven hearings in the House and Senate to discuss the President’s Budget Request (PBR) for fiscal year 2027. While touting the Administration’s efforts around chronic disease prevention, food policy, drug affordability, and rural health investments, Secretary Kennedy repeatedly defended the proposed deep cuts to the HHS budget, denied Medicaid cuts resulted from the One Big Beautiful Bill, and rejected responsibility for declining vaccination rates and measles outbreaks.
