The Southern Leadership Board invites nominations for the positions of President‐Elect, Secretary/Treasurer-Elect, Membership‐Elect, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Chair-Elect. The Board focuses on planning the regional meeting and building SGIM leadership, seeking candidates from various institutions within the Southern region.
Positions & Terms:
- President‐Elect (3-year term): Involves participating in regional officer activities, serving on the Regional Meeting Planning Committee, and becoming a member of the Board of Regional Leaders. Responsibilities include planning the regional meeting and advising regional activities as Past‐President.
- Secretary/Treasurer‐Elect (2-year term): Duties include assisting with organizing the regional meeting, managing finances, keeping records of meetings, and liaising with other regional organizations.
- Membership‐Elect (2-year term): Focuses on promoting SGIM membership, participating in the national Membership Committee, and leading membership recruitment at the regional meeting.
- DEI Chair-Elect (2-year term): Works on DEI initiatives, collaborating with regional and national SGIM leadership. Responsibilities include developing communication plans for DEI-related submissions and coordinating DEI efforts, requiring 2-3 hours monthly.
Nomination Requirements:
- Chief Resident, GIM fellow, or faculty member at any level within the Southern SGIM region.
- Previous involvement in Southern SGIM and experience in DEI or social medicine is advantageous but not mandatory.
- All nominees must be or become SGIM members.
