before SGIM25
The ability to navigate the C-Suite while ensuring GIM has a seat at the decision-making table is more important than ever. To successfully advocate for ourselves and our faculty, we must understand how decisions are made in our institutions and develop a skill set that enriches our leadership voice.
The Institute is designed as a resource for anyone aspiring to a leadership role, including Division Chiefs, Hospital Medicine Directors, Associate Chiefs, Section Heads, Administrators, and other leaders in divisions of GIM and Hospital Medicine. Please consider sponsoring a colleague to join you.
Leading with Value(s) in Academic GIM
GIM leaders face increasing tensions between individual values and providing value in their organizations. During the 2025 ACLGIM Hess Institute, we will address the following:
- How do we resolve tension between different values/motivators?
- How can we help organizations change as values evolve?
- What used to drive roles in GIM?
- What has changed over time that we must now adapt to?
Topics to include:
- Physician advocacy as a leader: Balancing leadership (responsibility to institution) and responsibility as a physician
- Tension between business, wellness, and professional development (current culture equates wellness and professional development)
- Workforce issues such as succession planning, part-time physicians, and asynchronous work.
