In This Month's Issue
The February issue of the SGIM Forum offers timely insights and thoughtful reflections on the issues shaping our field. The 2026 Annual Meeting Chairs share how this year’s meeting will redefine advocacy and highlight the many opportunities for member engagement. SGIM President Dr. Estrada spotlights first-generation physician members, while Dr. Bass reflects on the value SGIM brings to its community. This issue also features an “Ask the Ethicist” column with guidance on navigating difficult conversations with families around brain death, and an article by Drs. Pasha and Silbert examining the risks of unlabeled prescribing of GLP-1 medications. In addition, the Forum proudly publishes an SGIM-endorsed Position Statement alongside an article on expanding Medicaid coverage for incarcerated individuals. The issue concludes with a moving reflection on living loss by Dr. Fenske.
