This is a recorded session from the SGIM 2025 Annual Meeting in Florida.

The SGIM Research Committee is pleased to present this session, which will explore the persistent gap between research and practice, examine its root causes, and discuss strategies to accelerate the translation of research findings into practice and policy. Panelists include editors from the Journal of General Internal Medicine, JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, and Annals of Internal Medicine. The session begins by setting the stage with historical and current perspectives on the challenges of translating research into practice. Each editor shares insights from their journals on accelerating dissemination and implementation of research findings while maintaining rigorous standards for accuracy and reliability.
