This is a recorded session from the SGIM 2025 Annual Meeting in Florida.
This update will focus on key areas within perioperative and consultative medicine, including cardiovascular care, pulmonary risk, hematologic management, and other aspects of perioperative care. A different author presents each area and will cover 3-4 of the most relevant publications from the past year. Publications will be identified by performing a comprehensive literature review, and the authors will select the most critical papers through voting. Each paper is presented within the context of a patient care scenario, and the authors provide practical advice on how to apply the paper’s findings to patient care.
- Apply new perioperative medicine knowledge to patient care
- Discuss how to educate patients with chronic disease on how best to optimize their
surgical risk - Review one’s own perioperative management, appraisal and assimilation of scientific evidence, and improvements in patient care
