Clinical Updates in Health Equity

Course Description

This is a recorded session from the SGIM 2025 Annual Meeting in Florida.

The Clinical Update in Health Equity presents the most impactful studies in health equity research from the past year. The update integrates the latest clinical knowledge and evidence-based interventions to catalyze the advancement of health equity from the individual to the institutional level in accordance with the meeting theme.  Articles selected represent the breadth of health equity research in general internal medicine, including but not limited to the theme of anti-racist clinical practice, advocacy, and structural determinants of health.


Learning Objectives
  1. Describe the latest outcomes data related to health inequities and connect it to the patients in your area of practice
  2. Identify at least three evidence-based strategies that can be incorporated into your clinical practice to mitigate health inequities for your patients
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of evidence-based interventions in the primary care and hospital medicine settings targeting the structural determinants of health
  4. Describe the environmental factors impacting health equity in your community and identify organizational or governmental bodies to which you can advocate for change
