This is a recorded session from the SGIM 2025 Annual Meeting in Florida.
The SGIM Geriatric Commission sponsors this symposium that will present important developments in the clinical care of older adults published over the past year. The goal is to help generalists provide evidence-based clinical care for older adults both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Topics will include advances in diagnosis and management of geriatric syndromes and other chronic disease conditions affecting older adults; prognosis; and systems-based care. Presenters discuss the strength of the evidence and the potential impact on our current clinical practice and education within the age-friendly care concept of the Geriatrics 5Ms: Multicomplexity, Mind, Mobility, Medications, and what Matters Most.
- Identify advances in geriatric clinical care and how to apply this new knowledge to practice
- Discuss the intricacies of geriatric care and how to apply them in their age-friendly practice
- Discuss new literature updates in geriatric care and discuss how to apply them to practice to improve care for older adults
