Course Description
This is a recorded session from the SGIM 2025 Annual Meeting in Florida.

Academic internal medicine physicians have a powerful voice for change as advocates for the health and well-being of patients, communities, and the public. Only a handful of academic medical centers (AMCs) provide advocacy-related faculty development opportunities, offer leadership positions, protect time to engage in or teach advocacy, or recognize advocacy and community engagement in criteria for promotion & tenure. This symposium includes educators, researchers, trainees, junior faculty, division chiefs, and department chairs. It will focus on strategies to advance and support professional development in advocacy for aspiring and practicing academic internal medicine physicians and academic institutions.

  2. Describe strategies at academic medical centers to support advocacy as a professional activity
