PCORI Conference

Engaging PCORI Priority Stakeholders through SGIM

SGIM is in its final year of a two-year project funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Initiative (PCORI), designed to educate SGIM members about PCOR and to provide avenues for better engagement in the PCORI research process by clinician and clinician educators; and to provide PCORI with key perspectives from SGIM members regarding their participation in PCOR.

This toolkit is designed to share our lessons learned from this project and to invite you to replicate the topics and information included here into your own conferences and engagement activities.

ASSESSMENT

We have conducted two assessments directed to SGIM members and patient advocates to learn more about their attitudes and needs regarding participation in PCOR.  The information gathered from these surveys will be shared in a white paper at a later date.

CONFERENCE SESSIONS

At the 2015 and 2016 SGIM Annual Meetings, SGIM hosted a series of general and workshop sessions that provided insight into key aspects of patient and clinician engagement in research—patient engagement, learning from patients within healthcare system, using clinical trials to engage patients and providers, addressing disparities, and the value of PCORNet and related networks.
